InComm, an Atlanta company that has prepaid cards and transaction technology for retailers, acquired a digital gifting company in Oregon.

Giftango Corp. will expand InComm’s distribution and its reach into electronic gift card sales, the company said. It will be a wholly owned subsidiary of InComm, and will stay in Portland, Ore. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“This acquisition opens doors to new and meaningful distribution channels for InComm merchants and product partners,” InComm president and CEO Brooks Smith said in a statement. “Giftango is the digital gifting technology behind very large loyalty, incentive and mobile platforms in the U.S. market.”

According to Giftango, as many as 80 percent of shoppers choose a digital gift card when given a choice between digital and plastic cards in a loyalty program.
