A long line of passengers load onto a shuttle bus on their way to the domestic terminal at the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal at Harstfield-Jackson International Airport Thursday afternoon in Atlanta, Ga., May 24, 2012.
The city of Atlanta's chief procurement officer announced he will restart the contracting process for a key shuttle contract at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
The city in October 2011 solicited proposals for the shuttle contract, while other vendors have provided the shuttle service on an interim basis..
That will remain in effect until a new contract is finalized, according to the city.
The chief procurement officer Adam Smith said in a written statement: "I have concluded it is in the best interest of the city to cancel" the procurement process for the shared ride shuttle service. He added that the new process will also address needs at the international terminal and the city will add evaluators for "a more in-depth review and selection process."
