A British chemical equipment supplier is moving its U.S. headquarters and distribution center to Cumming.

Biodiesel King specializes in providing chemicals, fuels and other equipment to the biodiesel industry. It also collects waste cooking oil from restaurants, hotels and other businesses, paying up to $1 a gallon.

It was not immediately clear how many jobs the move will create for Forsyth County.

Ian Dawson, the firm’s managing director, said he selected the Forsyth County site partly because of its proximity to solid infrastructure and growing businesses. The county is growing at a faster pace than the rest of Georgia, adding about 4 percent population since 2010, according to census records.

Georgia has made aggressive attempts to court the alternative fuel industry, and state officials in September announced a $60 million wood pellet manufacturing plant that will create 35 jobs is to open in Sandersville.

Not all the ventures have worked out, though. A failed ethanol plant in Soperton burned through $65 million in state and federal tax dollars before it was sold at a loss in January.
