Full rail service restored at Five Points MARTA after train hit woman

Full rail service has been restored to the Five Points MARTA station where it had been delayed after a train hit a woman who was on the tracks Thursday.

The woman was on the northbound tracks around 4:10 p.m. when the incident happened, MARTA spokesperson Saba Long said.

Emergency workers removed her from the tracks and she was “conscious and alert when taken to Grady Memorial Hospital,” Long said.

The incident is under investigation, but trains are no longer single-tracking, which had caused delays, and passengers can board at all platforms, MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said Thursday night.

“The inclement weather bus bridge that had been established earlier remains in effect from Five Points to Oakland City stations,” Long said.

Bus customers may experience delays because of street flooding, Long said.

Other train customers also had to deal with delays Thursday.
