Two 18-year-olds were arrested Thursday, a week after they allegedly broke into a Cherokee County man’s car and fired several shots at him, hitting his house and garage.

David Bressmer spotted two men breaking into his car around 4 a.m. on Jan. 24 and confronted them outside his Oconee Way home, chasing them with his son’s baseball bat and hitting their vehicle. He told authorities they fired at him while driving away, and authorities confirmed they found multiple bullet holes, including some in a neighbor’s home and vehicle in addition to shell casings near Bressmer’s home.

The man found a bullet hole in his garage.

After gathering surveillance videos and other information, Canton police charged D-Amonte’ Brown of Austell and Kardarious Odoms of Powder Springs with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and entering auto. Additional charges will be filed early next week, police spokesman Pacer Cordry said in a news release.

“We are very grateful these individuals are in custody and a safe and successful resolution was brought to these crimes against our citizens,” Canton police Chief Mark J. Mitchell said in the release.

Bressmer, who said he chased the men while still in his underwear, told Channel 2 Action News that gift cards and a $500 microphone were stolen from his vehicle.

But he’s just glad he wasn’t hit by a bullet.

“I was lucky. I was very lucky,” he said.
