The deadly chain of unrelated incidents began on Moreland Avenue Friday night -- where a liquor store clerk was killed by an armed robber -- and continued through Sunday when human remains were found in a southwest Atlanta manhole.
By the time the weekend ended, police were investigating additional killings in Roswell, College Park, East Point and Ellenwood.
Here's a rundown:
Atlanta: Moreland Package Store employee Kavader M. McKibben, 21, was shot and killed during an armed robbery around 10 p.m. Friday. The store owner then wounded the suspect, Terrone Anthony, 19, in a shootout. Anthony is charged with murder, and police continue to look for his alleged accomplice.
East Point: A 64-year-old man was found shot to death in his home on Ben Hill Road Saturday evening. Police are looking for his roommate, Gregory Allen Cooper, who has been missing since Thursday. They are calling Cooper a "person of interest."
College Park: Early Sunday morning, security guards at the Oceans 66 nightclub shot and killed a patron who had brought a gun inside and started firing, police said. Jeffrey Bing, 27, got unruly when guards questioned him about the gun and "started shooting at the security officers and patrons," Sgt. Eddie Atkins said.
Roswell: A 42-year-old man was shot in the chest as he got out of his pickup truck at the Frazier Street Apartments at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Ismael Cervantes Orta staggered toward an apartment, knocked on a door and was found lying there by a resident. Orta died later at North Fulton Regional Hospital.
Ellenwood: Nineteen-year-old Djwan Crocker was fatally shot at the Cobblestone Flat Apartments on Rex Road around 9 p.m. Sunday, Clayton County police said. Police are looking for four men in a green Toyota Camry who had been cruising the apartment complex for days.
Atlanta: City workers found human remains in a manhole on Harwell Road. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office is testing the remains for identification and cause of death, and Atlanta homicide detectives are investigating.
