Atlanta will get a break Monday from the wind, ice and rain that has characterized so much of this harsh winter so far.

The National Weather Service is expecting the skies to clear after sprinkles Sunday night, with the thermometer soaring to a relatively high 59 degrees Monday after a morning low of around 40.

Tuesday, the start of the workweek, will be even better, with highs in the mid-60s.

Get outdoors while you can. Clouds are expected to arrive overnight Tuesday, bringing a 40 percent chance of rain Wednesday and a 70 percent chance Wednesday night. The probability of rain will remain high Thursday at around 60 percent, tapering to 20 percent at night. Forecasters expect a modest downpour  with an inch or more of rainfall.

At least the forecasters aren't calling for ice.

"It looks like we stay above freezing" all week, said Jessica Fieux, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "Friday night's the closest we get to freezing with a low of 33," she said.
