Look for a cold start to Tuesday morning, but a break from wet weather the National Weather Service said.

Skies will be clear Tuesday with low A.M. temperatures between 32 and 36 degrees in metro Atlanta area, forecasters said.

The highs will reach about 60 degrees during the day before dropping to around 45 degrees overnight.

But the dry weather won't last, meteorologist Vaughn Smith said, with a chance of rain on Wednesday.

"We're going to get more clouds coming back and more rain," he said.

After heavy rain mid-week, forecasters predict a possibility of mountain snow Thursday night.

Rain returns to the forecast Tuesday night, when there's an 80 percent chance of showers along with lows in the low 40s.

The chance of rain is 90 percent on Wednesday, decreasing to 50 percent Wednesday night.  The rain could be heavy at times, with totals of 2 to 3 inches possible, the Weather Service said.

Thursday will be partly sunny, with highs in the low 50s, followed by overnight lows in the low 30s.

In the northeast Georgia mountains, there's a 20 percent chance of light rain or snow flurries Thursday night as lows dip into the mid-20s.
