The Atlanta Prosperity Campaign, an initiative of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and its partners will offer free tax help.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance  program will provide help to low-to-moderate income metro residents with a 2011 household income of $49,000 or less.  There will be IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers at more than 40 VITA sites in 12 metro counties.  Sites will be open through April 17.

In addition to free tax preparation, several sites will also offer help with Free Application for Federal Student Aid, benefits screening and credit report analysis.

For more information and a list of free tax preparation sites and operating hours:  www.atlantaprosperity.org or call the United Way’s helpline 211 (or 404-614-1000).
