Power is back on at the Fulton County jail.

The electricity went off at the sheriff's office and jail on Central Avenue around 11:20, sheriff's spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said.

The power was restored around 1 p.m., Georgia Power said.

The sheriff's office immediately switched to generators to operate the lights and security system, Flanagan said.

The jail was one of about 6,700 Georgia Power customers without power, Georgia Power spokeswoman Konswello Monroe said.

"We have an equipment malfunction at one of our substations," Monroe said.
