Police identify woman hit by MARTA van; driver charged

Atlanta police have identified the woman who was hit by a MARTA van around 10:30 Monday morning.
The bumper of a MARTA Mobility van had to removed to free Tynesha Wells, 37, who was hit while crossing the street at the intersection of Marietta and Forsyth streets.
According to Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones, Wells slipped and fell while crossing the street, and driver Christy Rhymer didn’t see Wells and struck her.
Wells' leg was stuck between the van’s tire and axle, Jones said. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Rhymer was charged with failure to yield to pedestrian.
