Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in Union City
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A 29-year-old Atlanta woman was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run accident in Union City.
Latara Worthy was walking on South Fulton Parkway near Mason Road when a vehicle ran her over at about 3 a.m., according to Union City Police. Police said Worthy was a teacher, and a Facebook page shows her as working at Woodland Middle School in East Point.
Worthy's mother and aunt told Channel 2 Action News that Worthy, the mother of a 1-year-old, was run over five minutes away from where she lived. Her family said she was hit by a vehicle after she stepped out of her car.
Police are still investigating the accident, including trying to get a description of the vehicle that struck Worthy.
