The Georgia Christian Coalition has new leadership.

Jerry Luquire has been named the group's new president. The Columbus resident is the founder of Brentwood Publishers, which publishes textbooks and religious titles. He's also hosted a radio and television call-in show and ran an unsuccessful bid for the Georgia House as a Republican.

Luquire replaces Jim Beck, who will continue to volunteer for the group.

The Georgia Christian Coalition is a powerful lobbying force at the state Capitol on a number of conservative issues. It's been particularly outspoken in recent years against allowing Sunday alcohol sales at grocery and convenience stores.
