A 24-year-old man sitting in a car in southeast Atlanta was shot in the abdomen Tuesday night, police said.

The victim, Mike Vasale, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Police said at about 11:15 p.m., Vasale was shot while sitting in the passenger seat of a car parked in the driveway of 1025 Eisenhower Court. His friend, Alvin Austin, called 911.

When police arrived, Vasale and Austin gave conflicting accounts about why they were there.  One said they were there to buy a car, the other said they were "just hanging out," according to police.

The men refused to elaborate.

Police said they have no suspects and that the incident remains under investigation.
