The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A man returning his children to their mother in southwest Atlanta was killed in a shootout with the woman's new boyfriend late Saturday, Atlanta police said.

Police said the mother and new boyfriend went to the 2600 block of Springdale Road to pick up the children, who had spent the day with their father. Once the children had been transferred, the men exchanged words and pulled out handguns.

The former boyfriend was shot once in the chest and died at the scene. The new boyfriend was grazed and is in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

WSB-TV reported up to 15 shots were fired.

The station identified the dead man as 37-year-old Antonio Dozier of Woodbury.

Police said no charges have been filed and that the case remains under investigation.
