A man was injured Saturday afternoon when a bus carrying University of Alabama band members to a game at the Georgia Dome collided with his car on an Atlanta street, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Only the man in the car was injured when the last in a line of buses “t-boned” the vehicle at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Centennial Olympic Park Drive near the site where the Alabama football team was to play Virginia Tech Saturday evening.

Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said none of the 47 band members on the bus were hurt.

According to Wright, the bus driver said his bus had become separated from the seven university buses ahead and the traffic light was still yellow when he pulled into the intersection. The driver of the car said he had a green light when he pulled in front of the bus.

No one was charged.

“It was a toss up,” Wright said.

The driver’s name and injury information was not available.
