Georgia Tech, SCAD host games conference
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Georgia Tech and the Savannah College of Art and Design will co-host a conference in February looking at computer games as a form of art.
The Art History of Games will be held Feb. 4-6 on the campus of the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. The event will bring together artists, academics and others who are involved with game studies, art history and other related areas. Organizers said participants will explore the history connecting art and games and discuss what roles they have in our current life and future possibilities.
The symposium will include presentations, Q&A sessions and panel discussions. Three commissioned games will be premiered during the conference, organizers said.
Faculty and students from Tech and SCAD have long collaborated on projects. Both programs are considered among the top in the nation for their expertise in the different aspects of computer game design and development.
