Georgia Tech police have identified the student who entered the dorm rooms of two female students and asked for sex last weekend.

Police said Thursday that the incident has been turned over to the Dean of Students office. Criminal charges may be filed pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.

Georgia Tech issued a safety alert after two female students reported that an unknown male entered their dorm rooms and asked for sex early Saturday.

The first student said that at approximately 3:45 a.m., the male -- who claimed to be a Tech student living in the same North Avenue campus apartment building -- entered her unlocked room, tried to get in her bed and asked to have sexual intercourse with her, police said. The suspect left after she screamed, she said.

Another student in the same building told police that a similar incident took place in her room at approximately 4:30 a.m. The suspect left after she declined his advances, she said.

"The safety and security of our students is our top priority," Georgia Tech spokesman Matt Nagel said.
