John Spink, jspinnk@ajc.com Atlanta police summoned their SWAT team to a house on Hill Street in Atlanta after a man said his girlfriend had assaulted him.

Atlanta police spokesman James Polite said Horace Hayes, 42, flagged down an officer outside a home in the 1200 block of Hill Street shortly before 8:30 a.m. to report that he had been assaulted.

Hayes’ girlfriend, 45-year-old Linda Clark, came out of the house armed with a knife, then retreated back inside, Polite said.

When Clark refused to come back out, the SWAT team was called to the scene, Polite said.

Shortly after 10 a.m., SWAT officers went into the house and took Clark into custody without incident.

Polite didn’t know what sparked the fight, but said both Clark and Hayes were “highly intoxicated.”

Clark was charged with aggravated assault and simple battery. Hayes, who suffered a superficial knife wound during the incident, was charged with simple battery.
