An East Point family escaped an early-morning fire Saturday at the same apartment complex where a larger blaze occurred two months ago, fire officials said.

No one was injured, but the family has been displaced by the fire at the Colony at Camp Creek Apartments on Drexel Lane,  East Point fire officials said. The American Red Cross is assisting the family. Two other families had damage to their nearby apartments, but not enough to displace them.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, Fire Safety Officer Renita Shelton said.

A more destructive fire occurred at the apartment complex on Dec. 6, when 30 units sustained damage. No one was injured in that fire, either.

After the December fire, East Point firefighters, with the assistance from the mother of rap star Ludacris, gave Christmas presents to children of the affected families, Shelton said.
