A 4th of July celebration expected to draw more than 12,000 people returns this weekend to East Point.

The Red, White and Blue Hometown Celebration includes a carnival between Wednesday and July 4 and, for the first time, a digital fireworks show that syncs the pyrotechnics to music.

The Carnival begins

The East Point Main Street Association sponsors the event, the largest of its kind in south Fulton County.

The carnival kicks off in East Point Commons at 5 p.m. Wednesday and includes rides, concessions and games. It runs through Sunday.

The Independence Day celebration begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, with live music and other events in downtown East Point. The fireworks show is slated to begin at about 9:30 p.m.
