Holiday music, food and activities are in store for the “East Point Celebrates The Holidays” event on Friday night.

East Point Main Street, a local business group, is sponsoring the event that kicks off at 5 p.m. with the arrival of Santa Claus in a heated tent in front of City Hall on East Point Street.

The party continues until 6:45 p.m. with choral groups, food, children’s activities and an “angel” tree featuring names and gift requests for needy children in the city.

At 6:45 p.m., all lights will be turned off for the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree. A concert by R&B singer Canton Jones will follow.

The event is free and open to the public. Out-of-towners are encouraged to take MARTA to the East Point stop, as activities will be held just one block north of the station.
