Driver charged in I-285 accident that killed two passengers
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The driver of a car involved in a spectacular pre-dawn crash on I-285 that left two passengers dead was arrested late Saturday afternoon, charged with vehicular homicide.
Mujahid Saleem, 21, was exiting I-285 at I-20 on the westside Perimeter when he lost control and crashed, killing Malcom Hill, 23, and Abdul-Kurim Abdullah, 21, according to Atlanta Police spokeswoman Kim Jones. The two men died on impact.
Another passenger, Randy Miles, 24, sustained back injuries and is being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital, Jones said.
The car was mangled as it flipped several times, landing on its roof in a wooded area between the I-20 West ramp and the interstate. Emergency officials were informed of the accident by the car's OnStar system at 4:12 am.
Remarkably, Saleem suffered only minor injuries, Jones said. He faces two counts of second degree vehicular homicide, though police say they still don't know what caused the accident.
