The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The volcano eruption in Iceland that canceled flights across much of Europe Thursday has caused Delta to cancel 65 international flights in and out of its major U.S. hubs including Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, a spokesman said.

Delta canceled 35 flights Thursday night and 30 scheduled for Friday morning, said spokesman Anthony Black.

Besides flights in and out of Atlanta, Delta canceled flights in and out of New York's JFK Airport, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, St. Louis, Memphis, as well as Pittsburgh, Seattle, Newark and Portland.

The airport's Web site Thursday morning showed that a Delta Air Lines flight from London's Gatwick Airport was airborne and scheduled to arrive in Atlanta at 12:47 p.m., but two other Atlanta-bound flights later in the day from London's Heathrow Airport had been canceled. Those flights are operated by Delta and British Airways.
