On Tuesday afternoon, a judge set bond at $50,000 for Sandra Ramirez, 29, and Jesus Valenti, 26. The two are charged with abandonment of a dead body.

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, the couple remained in the Fulton County jail, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan.

Atlanta Police said officers found the dead baby Monday morning in a Dumpster at an apartment complex on Morosgo Court off Lindbergh Drive.

Investigators are still waiting for the Fulton County Medical Examiner to complete an autopsy, Atlanta Police Officer Eric Schwartz said Wednesday. That will determine if the mother's claims that the baby was stillborn are accurate, police said.

The autopsy should be complete later this week or early next week, Senior Investigator Mark Guilbeau told the AJC  Tuesday.

The baby's mother told investigators that she gave birth to a stillborn child on Sunday and buried the child, Atlanta police Det. Summer Benton said.

Police were notified after the mother showed up at South Fulton Medical Center, bleeding from the childbirth, Benton said.

Benton said the mother and the child's father were at first uncooperative, but about 5 a.m. Monday, the mother led detectives to the baby's body in the Dumpster at an apartment complex

The couple is scheduled to return to court Dec. 15.
