A crime sting in southwest Atlanta resulted in 55 arrests on 62 charges Friday night, police said.

Complaints about crime in the area prompted the sting, which involved several Atlanta police units.

"We're very pleased with the success of it," Sgt. Curtis Davenport told the AJC.

The Red Dog unit, which focuses on drug crimes, had a busy night, resulting in 15 arrests.

The DUI unit gave out 28 citations, Davenport said. Five people wanted for previous crimes were also arrested.
