College Park installing security cameras
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
College Park is installing high definition security cameras to key locations throughout the city to prevent crime, officials said.
Fixed cameras are planned for Old National Highway, Camp Creek Parkway and Main Street, recording images 24 hours a day at between 20 and 30 frames per second.
"The use of cameras will help us take any step necessary to improve the overall safety of this city," Interim Police Chief Tom Kuzniacki said. "They will help us monitor some situations before they become problematic ... in emergency situations staff can view in real time on the laptop inside their vehicles."
The wireless system will be installed as pre-configured kits that can be mounted and only need to be plugged in to a power source to operate, city officials said.
"We'll assess the system over a period of time and expand where necessary," Kuzniacki said.
