College Park fire department earns higher ranking
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The fire department in College Park has earned an upgrade in ratings from the Insurance Service Office.
The improvement – from a 4 to a 3 – means the department should pay less for insurance for its services. Homeowners and business owners may also pay lower premiums because of the ranking, which takes effect Jan. 1.
The insurance office evaluated the department in communications, water system and its overall operations and inspected staff and equipment to reach its conclusion.
Rankings are on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the worst. Only 56 of Georgia’s 1,145 fire departments rate with a 3 or better.
