Clark Atlanta event features Savannah mayor
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Savannah Mayor Otis Johnson will deliver the keynote address during a March 18 ceremony at Clark Atlanta University.
The speech is part of the college's Founders Day, which honors the institution's history. The university was formed in 1988 with the consolidation of Atlanta University, founded in 1865, and Clark College, established in 1869. Clark Atlanta currently enrolls about 4,000 students.
Johnson earned a master's degree in social work from Atlanta University in 1969. He credited his time at Atlanta University with helping to provide the foundation to become a leader and implement change.
"To return to Clark Atlanta University — an institution with its own legendary track record of change agency— at this high point in the school’s academic calendar is both a great honor and a call to continued service," Johnson said in a statement.
