Child struck by train in stable condition
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A 4-year-old boy is in stable, or good condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston after being hit by a train in northwest Atlanta, authorities said.
Elijah Anderson ran out of his yard, chasing after his dog, Atlanta Police Officer James Polite said. The crash occurred in the 2100 block of Wilson Boulevard around 5 p.m.,
The CSX train was traveling west at about 30 mph. The engineer saw the boy and tried to stop the train, but struck the child, Polite said.
The child was thrown away from the tracks, Polite said. The engineer stopped the train and called police.
The boy was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, Polite said.
He was upgraded from critical to stable condition last night.
