Jonathan Redding, 17, is charged with 24 different counts, including murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and participation in criminal street gang activity.
Last month, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Esmond Adams gave Redding more time to think about his crimes after he complained he didn’t understand the charges against him.
“My client is barely 17 years old,” his attorney Elizabeth Markowitz told the judge. “I’m trying to get my client to understand what he's facing.”
Prosecutors said Redding is one of four teenagers who stormed the Standard Food & Spirits on Jan. 7 and killed bartender John Henderson, 27. Redding is charged with robbing Henderson, along with another robbery at the Standard on Dec. 21.
Redding is also charged with shooting another man during a Jan. 9 home invasion in southwest Atlanta.
In April, U.S. Marshals arrested Redding in the Mechanicsville section of Atlanta.
Detectives said they linked Redding to the crimes through DNA and ballistics tests.
Redding has not identified his accomplices and no other arrests have been made in the Standard shooting.
