A baby is in the hospital after being left on a doorstep at a home in Palmetto.

The Palmetto baby was the third found in Georgia in the past two days.

Workers also found a dead baby in a restroom at Warner Robins hospital, and a healthy baby in a bathroom at Lovejoy High School.

In Palmetto, a resident called 911 Friday after finding the baby girl, Palmetto Fire Chief Henry Argo said.

Palmetto paramedics checked the baby out and turned her over to a helicopter on its way to a hospital, Argo said.

"The baby appeared to be in stable condition when we put her in the helicopter," Argo said.

The chief referred additional questions to Palmetto police, who are investigating the baby abandonment. Police could not be immediately reached for comment.

In Clayton County, emergency officials treated a newborn after a senior at Lovejoy High School gave birth in a school bathroom Friday. The student and baby were both healthy, school officials said.

The student will not face disciplinary action, school officials said.

In Warner Robbins, a newborn was found dead in a bathroom in the emergency room at Houston Medical Center early Thursday, police said.

Hospital surveillance video shows a woman entering the hospital and that she appears to have delivered and abandoned the child in the restroom, Warner Robins police spokeswoman Officer Tabitha Pugh said. The woman was being treated at the hospital, police said.

The mother came into the emergency room complaining of abdominal pain, Pugh said. An autopsy is being conducted to find out if the baby was alive at birth.

Staff Reporter Rhonda Cook and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
