Author Margaret Atwood to speak at Emory
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Award-winning author Margaret Atwood will deliver free and public lectures this October at Emory University, officials announced Monday.
Atwood will deliver three lectures -- on Oct. 24-26 -- as part of the university's Richard Ellmann Lectures in Modern Literature. A book reading and signing is scheduled for Oct. 26.
The author's most famous novels include "The Handmaid's Tale", "The Blind Assassin" and "The Year of the Flood." She has won numerous awards, including the Booker Prize and the Arthur C. Clark Award.
"She’s one of those rare writers who can do anything," says Joseph Skibell, an Emory professor who directs the Ellmann Lectures. "She’s a marvelous storyteller – her novels are wonderfully entertaining – she’s a great stylist and a true poet. Her work is shot through with a penetrating intelligence and she’s also quite funny."
