The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Atlanta City Councilwoman Natalyn Mosby Archibong wants the city to consider selling methane gas from its four closed landfills to a natural gas provider.

Archibong introduced legislation late Monday requesting the city look into the idea. The legislation was sent to the council's utilities committee.

"As we more into developing a more environmentally-sustainable city, we must explore every avenue of recycling and reuse," Archibong said in a statement.

Council President Lisa Borders pushed the idea during her unsuccessful bid for mayor.
