The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

In the wake of heated debate over whether Mayor Kasim Reed's plan to create a small agency to oversee Atlanta's film industry would kill jobs, two City Council members have a new plan.

Joyce M. Sheperd and Michael Julian Bond introduced legislation Nov. 7 to create a 15-member commission -- including representatives of city departments, the film industry and unions -- to study issues surrounding film and television production and the use of Atlanta's public property. The commission would report its findings and recommendations within 120 days.

The City Council's finance/executive committee is scheduled to discuss the legislation at its 1 p.m. meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at City Hall.
