Another robbery reported near Georgia Tech campus
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Georgia Tech police sent a warning to students and staff Thursday night about another robbery that occurred earlier in the day in the same area just north of campus where numerous students have been robbed the past couple of years.
In Thursday's incident, the victim, who was not affiliated with the school, was robbed just before 6 p.m. in the 500 block of Tenth Street, in the Home Park neighborhood.
"The victim was walking eastbound from Tenth Street and Northside Drive toward Curran Street when he was approached by a male asking to use his cell phone," Tech police said in the crime alert.
"The victim told the male that he did not have a cell phone," the alert said. " A second male approached the victim from behind and placed an object in the victim's back."
The suspects then told the victim to walk to the back of a home in the 500 block of Tenth Street. Once there, they stole the victim's belongings before fleeing in an unknown direction.
One suspect was described as a black male, 6 feet tall, weighing 175 pounds and with long dreadlocks. He was wearing blue jeans and a black, long-sleeve shirt.
The second suspect was a white male, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighing 150 pounds. He was about 25 to 30 years old, wearing jeans and a blue and white flannel shirt and was possibly armed with a handgun, according to the crime alert.
