A guide to voting in the Dec. 1 runoff elections
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The runoff election for Atlanta’s mayor and other races is Dec. 1. Here’s a quick look at what you need to do to cast your ballot that day
What happens now?
All of the so-called provisional, or overseas and military ballots must arrive by Friday so they can be counted. Then, the results must be certified – for municipal elections, that’s done by the county and not by the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.
Can people vote early?
Yes. For people who want to vote early in person, those dates and times will be posted on the Secretary of State’s Web site once Tuesday’s results are certified.
What about mail-in ballots?
Mail-in, or absentee ballots will be sent out to people who request them.
Who can vote in the runoff?
People who were registered to vote by Oct. 5 – the same deadline that applied for Tuesday’s election – can vote in the Dec. 1 runoff. Even if you didn’t vote in Tuesday’s election, you can vote in the runoff election.
If your voter registration wasn’t postmarked by Oct. 5, you cannot vote in the runoff.
