9-year-old hit by car on life support
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The 9-year-old boy hit while riding his bike in south Fulton County remained on life support Friday afternoon, police said.
“The child is on life support until suitable organ recipients are located," Fulton County police spokeswoman Det. Melissa Parker told the AJC.
The boy wasn’t breathing when emergency crews arrived Thursday night, said police.
After performing CPR, he was flown by helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in critical condition, Parker said.
The boy was riding his bike along Britley Terrrace around 7:30 p.m. when he “suddenly darted in front of a Chrysler Sebring,” Parker said.
It is unclear how fast the woman driving the car was going, but police say the speed limit in the Old National East subdivision, near College Park is around 35 mph.
No charges have been filed against the driver at this time, but police are investigating the incident.
