The Falcons and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are playing on the road this weekend, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of football happening this weekend in Atlanta.

The Georgia State Panthers take on the University of South Alabama at 3 p.m. Saturday in GSU’s homecoming game at the Georgia Dome. A short distance away, homecoming at Morehouse College will find the Maroon Tigers playing Benedict College at 2 p.m.

Other weekend events include a Sugarland concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Philips Arena, and the annual Taste of Atlanta food festival, being held this year at Tech Square on Spring Street at 5th Street in Midtown.

And to no one’s big surprise, road construction will shut down interstate lanes around town, particularly in DeKalb and Fulton counties.

Expected DeKalb County trouble spots include I-285 northbound from Chamblee Tucker Road to I-85; I-85 eastbound from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to I-85; I-20 westbound at Wesley Chapel Road, and the ramp from I-20 eastbound to I-285 northbound.

In Fulton County, the ramp from the Downtown Connector to southbound I-85 will be partially blocked, along with lanes of I-75 northbound north of Cleveland Avenue and I-85 northbound near Metropolitan Parkway.

Other areas to watch for include the ramp from I-285 southbound to I-85 northbound in south Fulton, and I-75 northbound approaching I-675 in Henry County.

The weather will be perfect for all that road construction, with sunny skies, highs in the 60s on Saturday and low 70s on Sunday and overnight lows in the 40s.
