Atlanta weather | Approaching cold brings blustery day
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Lingering showers in extreme North Georgia overnight will give way to cooler conditions, with a wind advisory for the metro Atlanta area and a winter weather advisory for areas to the north Thursday.

According to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley, Thursday will see breaks in the clouds and windy conditions after 10 a.m., with temperatures rising from a low in the 40s to a high in the 50s.
Late in the day, an arctic cold front will arrive.
“As the cold air rushes in, it squeezes out all available moisture, so [Thursday] night we could see some light showers mixed with flurries and snow showers in the north Georgia mountains,” Chandley said.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday for several counties well north of Atlanta.
“All of north Georgia will be under a wind advisory on Thursday from 10 a.m. to midnight,” Chandley said. Look for west winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.
Friday will see lows in the 20s and highs only in the 40s, Chandley said, adding that the weekend will be sunny and cool.
