Atlanta is among 20 cities chosen as a host city for the United States Navy’s Navy Week celebration.

The event is scheduled for October 11-17.

Each year the U.S. Navy conducts about 20 Navy Weeks. The events are designed to connect with communities throughout the country and help Americans learn more about the Navy, its purpose and capabilities.

During the week the Navy visits local schools, engages with local governmental and corporate entities and holds demonstrations by the Navy’s Blue Angels, Leap Frogs Parachute Team, divers, flight simulators, etc.

Other cities chosen for 2010 include: Tampa; Phoenix; Birmingham; Chicago; Baltimore; Cleveland and Dallas.
