Armed robbery leads to chase through two counties
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
An armed robbery at a Taco Bell in Covington turned into a police chase through two counties Saturday evening. Police are still searching for the suspects, who apparently escaped after an accident with a deputy.
Gunshots were exchanged between police and the suspects during the chase, according to Lt. Mark Mitchell with the Newton County Sheriff's Department.
The chase then continued into neighboring Rockdale County, where it ended with a collision with a police car, according to Sgt. Jodi Shupe with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.
The Rockdale deputy was not injured, Shupe said. The suspects fled the accident scene on foot.
