Archdiocese drops lawsuit after land deal agreement
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta has reached an agreement with Gwinnett County and a group of developers to buy the land next to one of its churches, preventing the construction of a controversial garbage facility.
The archdiocese and Holy Vietnamese Martyrs Mission, near the intersection of I-85 and Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross, will drop the lawsuit against the county and Lancaster Enterprises as part of the deal.
The county had planned to allow developers to build a waste transfer station on the property, which the church argued would amount to a nuisance prohibited under Georgia law. Joel Anderson
