So far travel in and out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has been smooth, said airport officials Sunday.

As of 6:30 p.m. there were no reported delays, said airport spokeswoman Katena Carvajelas.

“And security wait times are under 10 minutes,” she said.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reports that the airport is experiencing general departure delay traffic at the gate and taxi delays “lasting 15 minutes or less.”

Any time less than 15 minutes for arrival or departure is deemed on time by the FAA, said John Kennedy, airport spokesman.

"Delays do not officially start until flights exceed 15 minutes in either arrival or departure," he said. "So, technically, there are no delays at H-J this evening."

As the weekend kicked off, airport officials offered these tips to make it a smooth travel experience:

* Print your boarding pass before getting to the airport.

* Do not try to carry on a bag that's bigger than 22-by-14-by-9 inches, typically the maximum allowed by airlines. "We have to be strict on the size of the carry-ons," he said.

* Check parking availability on the airport's Website: http://www.atlanta-airport.com. There is plenty of parking in all airport parking lots, said Carvajelas Sunday.

* Before going to the airport, check with your airline to make sure your flight is on time.

Wednesday, Kennedy suggested those picking up loved ones should make use of the airport’s hour parking lots.

"It is $1 an hour and eases congestion on the roads," he said.

From Tuesday through Monday, airport officials expect 1.7 million passengers to pass through Hartsfield. The busiest three days are the day before Thanksgiving, Sunday and Monday.
