The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

An Acworth woman was killed Thursday evening while driving in the Atlanta area's first bout with snow this winter, authorities said.

Just before 9 p.m., Anne Porter's vehicle went off the road at Priest and North Holt roads in Acworth, Cherokee County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said. Porter, 50, suffered serious head trauma and died at the scene.

Porter was alone in the car, which Baker said slid off the roadway due to icy conditions and collided with a tree.
