Accused terrorist exhanged letters in jail

A federal judge ordered prison officials to find letters exchanged between a man convicted of helping terrorists and his friend, who was accused of the same crime.

Ehsanul Islam Sadequee, accused of helping oversees terrorists wage a violent jihad, told a judge Thursday he and Syed Haris Ahmed exchanged numerous letters in prison — against prison rules.
They talked about jihad, terrorist groups and possible informants, Sadequee said. Ahmed was convicted in June of conspring to help terrorists.
On Wednesday, Sadequee issued a subpoena for those letters, which have been siezed by prison guards.
But on Thursday, guards told a judge those letters don’t exist. Ahmed is scheduled to continue testifying for the government against his friend this morning.
