The 1994 Honda Accord topped the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s list for most stolen vehicle in Georgia and the U.S., according to a new report released Monday.
The top 10 stolen vehicles list was compiled by theft reports filed with the National Crime Information Center, which is run by the FBI.
The list includes mostly older model vehicles, which are easier to sell for parts, said Frank Scafidi, spokesman for the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
“Newer models are also more difficult, but not impossible to steal thanks to anti-theft technology incorporated by the manufacturers,” he said.
2008’s top stolen vehicles in Georgia were:
1. 1994 Honda Accord
2. 1994 Honda Civic
3. 2004 Ford F-150
4. 1994 Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee
5. 1990 Chevrolet 4x2 pickup
6. 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass
7. 2002 Ford Explorer
8. 2000 Dodge Caravan
9. 1999 Ford Taurus
10. Toyota Camry
