Three students were injured when a stopped school bus was rear-ended Wednesday afternoon in Barrow County, the Georgia State Patrol said.

The driver of a Jeep Liberty, 24-year-old Tiffany Holcomb, was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, said Gordy Wright, spokesman for the GSP. Holcomb, of Statham, will be charged with following too closely, Wright said.

Fourteen students were on the bus, which had its stop lights activated and was unloading passengers, Wright said.

Three students, Morgan Ridgeway and Erica Dean, both 13, and 14-year-old Isaac Armstrong were transported to Barrow Regional Medical Center, he said. All three are from Statham.

The bus driver, Evelyn Rabi of Winder, was treated at the scene, Wright said.

The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Atlanta Highway in Statham, according to the state patrol.
