5 charged in Walmart cellphone thefts

BOAZ, Ala. — Four men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the theft of cellphones from Walmart stores in Georgia and Alabama, police said.
Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis said the five, all from Huntsville, were arrested Sunday at a Walmart in Boaz with 19 cell phones still in their packaging.
He said it was determined that 19 cellphones also were taken from a Walmart in Snellville on Sunday.
Those arrested also are charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and first-degree theft of property in thefts from the Guntersville Walmart on July 13 in which cell phones worth $6,500 were taken.
Boaz police have been working on the case with police departments in Guntersville, Talladega, Snellville, Cullman, Marietta, Ga., and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
