3 bears killed in 10 days on Georgia roads

Gainesville, Ga. — Authorities say a black bear was struck and killed by a vehicle in northeast Georgia, the third time in 10 days a bear has died as the result of a collision on Georgia roads.

The Georgia State Patrol says a young black bear was killed after being struck by a vehicle in northwest Hall County on Sunday. The Times of Gainesville reports that a truck pulling a camper struck the bear.

On June 9, a motorist collided with a bear north of Columbus on Georgia 219 in Harris County, severely wounding the animal. Authorities said that bear was so badly injured it had to be euthanized.

The Coastal Courier newspaper reports that on June 11, a young male black bear was struck and killed by a vehicle in Liberty County.
